Both are freeze-thaw rated and built for prairie winters. Barkman is Canadian-made with a broad, value-friendly range and strong colour availability locally. Belgard leans premium and system-based for full outdoor-living builds. If you like a specific paver face and colour, that usually decides it — come see samples side by side.
What do I need besides the pavers themselves?
Plan on 4–6″ of compacted crushed limestone base (more under a driveway), a 1″ washed sand bedding layer, polymeric sand for the joints, and an edge restraint. Order 5–10% more paver area than you measure to cover cuts, and keep a few spares for future repairs.
