About Putting Green Turf
Short-pile synthetic turf for backyard putting greens and practice areas.
Synthetic turf gives you a green yard year-round without the upkeep of real grass. It is ideal for low-water lawns, shady spots where grass struggles, pet runs, kids' play areas and backyard putting greens. Modern turf looks and feels natural, drains fast and rinses clean.
We carry several turf types — landscape, pet & play, and putting-green — in different pile heights and colours. A well-compacted crushed-stone base and the right infill are what make it look and perform its best; we supply those too.
Questions about Putting Green Turf
Where does synthetic turf make sense in a Winnipeg yard?
Turf earns its keep where real grass keeps failing: deep shade under mature trees, dog runs that get worn to dirt, small city back yards, side strips and boulevards, rooftops and balconies, play areas, and backyard putting greens. It stays green through drought and watering restrictions with no mowing.
What goes under artificial turf, and does it survive winter?
Excavate, then build 3–4″ of compacted crushed limestone with a 1″ washed sand screed on top, fabric underneath, and pin the turf at the edges. Done that way it drains freely, so freeze-thaw is a non-issue — snow melts through and you can shovel it like any surface. A flat, poorly drained base is what ruins a turf install, not the cold.
